I got this in the mail from Quebec, Canada the other day. Trip Magazine #8, published by Editions Trip. It's a beautiful book. Here's the awesome cover by Tin Can Forest and a peek at my 10 page contribution.

Dream Another Dream. Winsor Mccay Tribute book!

I was really happy to see that the Winsor Mccay tribute book, Dream Another Dream, to be published by Locus Moon was fully funded on Kickstarter almost immediately. This is a sneak peek at the strip I drew for it. It's going to be a huge, beautiful book with so many legendary contributors. I can't believe I'm going to be in the same book as them.

self portrait?

I drew this right before I went to bed last night. I slept really well.

Deepchord, Lanterns, physical object

I finally got my hard copy of the double vinyl, gatefold album I designed for Deepchord. I'm really happy with how it turned out and it's been playing nonstop on the record player in my studio. It's so much fun working for Astral Industries.

Mystery Mark, the play.

I drew some pictures to fit in some Papier Mache frames to hang on a Papier Mache wall for the play version of Mystery Mark last night. I love the way this is all coming together. It's fun to be part of something with so many great people involved.

Ghost Goggles, ready!

I made some new paper ghost goggles for a secret performance project that my friend Lauren and I are making. More about that someday.

Mystery Mark, illustrated novella

Here's the cover I drew for the Mystery Mark illustrated novella written my Josh Wagner and illustrated by me. If all goes well, it'll be out in August!

Out this Fall!

Here's a little sneak peek at the cover to The Understanding Monster, book two.

Theater notes

I love seeing these notes for the theater production side of the Mystery Mark Project. As far as my own part goes, I'm getting close to having all of the art done for the illustrated book. It should be going into print really soon!

Game Over

I made this piece for the Game Over show that opens tonight at the Giant Robot gallery in Los Angeles. It feels pretty exciting to have contributed to shows on the opposite coasts that both open on the same night!

Life on Mars

Tonight in Brooklyn, New York, I have three big woodcut pieces on display at Grumpy Bert as part of the Life On Mars show. There's even going to be a talk by a Mars expert. Wish I could be there!

duck head traveler.

At Sam's house I picked up a broken porcelain duck head off of a shelf and held it up to the map on the wall. It felt significant somehow.

Mystery Mark making

My friend Scott Morse has been heading up the mask and puppet production for Mystery Mark. I feel really lucky to be involved. He's been having these production parties at his house where everyone gets together and works on papier mache pieces together. Last night I worked on a ghost car! Meanwhile I've been working to finish the series of illustrations for the heavily illustrated novella that author Josh Wagner is writing. It's been incredibly inspiring process. I don't even know how to explain why this story feels important to me.  It's going to be fun to share this book and theater production with people. There's a kickstarter to help get everything to the next level. a small donation is basically like pre-oredering the book. I'll be signing each book with a little original character.

sudden collaboration

Hanging out with Sam Kulla the other night, he was showing me some photos he'd developed himself in the darkroom. This was a washed out one, so I drew something inspired by the vague shapes and Sam drew some Japanese characters he learned while he was living there last winter. The spoken character is Hot Springs. The one in the chest is either Dust or Snow; he couldn't remember.

watches me draw

I made some screen prints of this drawing a few years back. I sold a few, but ended up leaving most of them places for people to find around  Portland and San Francisco. This is the only one I kept and I ended up adding to it. It's been pinned up in my studio watching me draw.
