Sketch book drawings

It's good to have a nice small sketchbook on hand at all times. It makes moments of waiting suddenly fun! I hand bound this tiny book at JournalFest. During the one day that I wasn't teaching I got to take a bookbinding class from Daniel Essig. He was a great instructor! I want to hand bind all my sketchbooks from now on. Check out his beautiful hand made books at www.danielessig.com

  2. Hey theo,
i emailed you maybe a year back rambling on about some book my mom used to have (which i discovered we still had tucked away upon a recent visit back home) that i thought your style reminded me of. Go figure, it was a book by Mercer Mayer, a largely known childs book writer and illustrator. The book, though, that i had in mind is called "Professor Wormbog in Search for the Zipperump-a-Zoo". Its illustrations are intricate, amazingly imaginative, and colorful like yours. So i encourage you to look that one up at the library. Haha. As if people didnt need a reason to dive back into childrens books, as we've recently been blessed with the "Where the Wild Things Are" movie. Anyhow, yay for art!
Hopefully this link works so you can see the front cover. Until i move to Portland in June and can drop by your Saturday Market tent to say "hi", have fun drawing!

  3. It was a very cool moment when I saw your doodles at the table next to me and I realized who you were. I've taken several classes from Dan now and have learned so much!
