Deepchord, Lanterns. At last!

The first release from Astral Industries is a physical object that exists in our reality for real now! A double record set with an hour of excellent music from Deepchord, gatefold packaging, and a giant poster. Can't wait to get mine in the mail. I should be getting started on the second release soon too. Such fun work!

Mystery Mark Mask

Mystery Mark is in the making! I've been working away on the final series of illustrations for the book. I'm crazy excited with how the story is coming together. At the same time, an amazing group of talented people are working on the performance side of the project. I've never been part of a project this big before. It's a good feeling. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mysterymark/mystery-mark

Mystery Mark, Kickstarter.

Mystery Mark is a big, multi-dimensional collaborative project I've been making art for. The end result will be an illustrated book, a live art installation piece and a puppet theater performance by Viscosity Theater. They're doing a  Kickstarter to help make it all happen. It includes a lot of great prizes including prints and shirts from me! It's been a great experience working with this group of intereting and passionate people.

Emergence, from Neoglyphic Media

I got copies of the new comics newspaper published by Neoglyphic Media in the mail yesterday! It turned out nice. Here's the cover, by Cullen Beckhorn along with the spread and a detail from the stream of conscious, straight pen to paper comic I made for it. These kinds of publications feel really valuable to me, and they're given away free! Fun to be involved!

draw, draw, draw

Things are piling up. There's stores and drawings forming all over the place. gotta release something soon so I can keep the flow going. I tend to go deep into my work and then realize I need to race back and keep my ship from sinking out there in reality. Balancing acts. Keep an eye out for new art objects.

Back into the woodcuts again.

stream

Sometimes while I'm sitting at my drawing table, a sentence or a word will bounce around inside of my head and I write it down on the big piece of paper that covers my drawing table.

Mind Melders!

I love sitting with friends and doing collaborative drawings. Mind Melders Magazine is going to be a place where I can collect and document the kinds of things that can only come about when artists and writers spontaneously respond to one another on paper. It can only be contributed to by sitting down with me and working on it in person. All contributors will receive a certain number of copies once the zine is printed. This will probably take awhile, but it's nice to have a little side-project like this that has to do with relating and exploring with others.

Mind Melders Magazine

I started a new publication last night with the help of my friend, Sam Kulla. It's called Mind Melders Magazine. You can only contribute to it in person, so hopefully I'll see you around.

WildWalk

self portrait

The silhouette of my head reflected in the glass that frames a drawing I made.

It happened by accident and startled me when I noticed it, so I took a picture.

overflow

This is a tiny section of the paper that covers my drawing table. It gets marked on, spilled on, and doodled on as I work. It's always fun to take note of it's natural progression.

spring evening photos

Now that all the snow is melted, I've been romping in the yard a lot with my 2 year old son. He likes it when I throw stuffed animals in to the air as high as I can and catch them. I took a couple of pictures and they ended up being strangely haunting.

I don't usually put up entire comics on the internet, but now you can read my story, Norman Eight's Left Arm over at Great Comic Book Hero's. It's from my long out of print 2009 comic, Sleeper Car. It was also included in Best American Comics 2010.
