Comix issue, reality

Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate and to everyone who made comics for the first ever comix issue. I'm really impressed with the Missoula Independent for putting this together. Extra huge thanks to Skylar Browning and Josh Quick for making it a reality. This spread from the comix issue features work from Eric Carlson, Courtney Blazon and Lauren Tyler Norby.

The Missoula Independent Comix Issue

The Missoula independent Comix Issue is here! I drew the cover and made a half page comic for it. As I was hoping, a lot of strong talent stepped up and created some unexpected and inspiring work for for it. It's really impressive that the Indy wanted to do this project and I'm thrilled that I got to be involved. Friday night, there will be a one night only art show at the Zootown Arts Community Center. I hope a lot of people will come out to celebrate!

I made a 10 page wordless comic for Trip Magazine #8, to be published by Editions Trip, based out of Quebec, Canada, this coming May. It's their international comics issue and I'm excited to be included!

Astral Industries, Deepchord

The first release from Astral Industries (the new London based record label I'm working for) is being mastered right now and I'm just about to start in on the artwork. It's going to be a super fancy, double vinyl release with a gatefold cover for Electronic music veteran, Deepchord. More news to come.

The Understanding Monster, Book Two!

I'm thrilled and relieved to announce that The Understanding Monster, Book Two has been finished, scanned, and sent off! It's scheduled to be published by Secret Acres in the Fall of 2014. Sorry it took me so long. It's been quite an experience.

Affirmation Drawing

Artist Innovation Award!

I'm super thrilled and thankful to have just received an Artist Innovation Award from the Montana Arts Council! As part of this, I'll be doing a public presentation of my work later in the year and I'll be using the money to print a new publication. I'm excited!

Capacity second printing sold out!

I was going to try and re-stock capacity in my Etsy shop, but I got word that the second printing is now completely sold out! Any copies you find in a book store or online are the very last copies available! There are already plans for a 3rd printing but Secret Acres is super busy with tons of exciting new 2014 releases, including The Understanding Monster, Book Two, so it won't be seeing print again until 2015.

Astral Industries event

Looks like the flyer I drew for the upcoming Astral Industries event in London was printed in the London Guardian when they did a spotlight on the event. Always nice to see print!
I should be making art for some Astral Industries vinyl releases soon too!!

Missoula Art Museum benefit auction.

Tomorrow evening (Friday the 3rd) is the opening for the Missoula Art Museum Benefit auction show. It's the first time I've ever had a piece displayed in an art museum. It's a beautiful space and I caught a glimpse of some really nice work when I was dropping off my piece the other day. It's nice to be a involved.

mystery Postcard doodling

 Hanging out with my friend Sam Kulla earlier this month I ended up adding some doodles to a post card he was sending to his Aunt and Uncle. It doesn't say who it's from anywhere. Hopefully they found it perplexing and delightful.

I did a whole series of collaborative drawings with with my friends while I was in Seattle for the Short Run Comics Festival. This one was with Sean Christensen, Stefan Gruber, Andrice Arp, and Vida Rose. Everyone just starts something, then we pass them around until they feel done. It's a good time!

Missoula Made Fair!

Tomorrow (Sunday, December 8th) I'll be setting up a table at the Missoula Made Fair from 11am-6pm at the Adams Center. I'll have new woodcuts, comics, art zines, books, prints, and cards for sale. If you're somewhere nearby, come say hi, it should be an excellent event.  I'll be up in the balcony at table 126!

Brunswick art show

I have 6 pieces hanging at the Brunswick Gallery at 223 Railroad Street in Missoula, Montana. The Show opens December 6th from 5 to 8 pm. It's the same building that my studio's in, so if anyone's interested I can take them upstairs to see where I work.
